Windsurfing and kitesurfing on the Etang de La Palme
As you might have guessed, the top sports at Le Clapotis are windsurfing and kitesurfing. Located on the banks of the La Palme lake, our holiday village has one wonderful and unique distinction – access to a boat launch direct from the campsite.
This is highly practical, and you won’t need your car: holidaymakers bring their equipment directly to their spot by the lake. As access to the area is private and secure, you can leave your equipment without any worries during the day.
A welcoming atmosphere
You will enjoy the “tribal” atmosphere of windsurfing campsites that is prevalent in the start area. And while, for practical reasons, the launches for windsurfers and for kitesurfers are separate and distinct, here everyone helps each other, chats and shares in cheerful mayhem. Need advice to get your sail up or to change a fin? You will undoubtedly find a member of the tribe who will happily take the time to help you.
Perfect surfing conditions
Swept by all three major winds – the Tramontane (from the west), the Marin (from the east) and the north wind – this body of water provides a constantly surprising venue, allowing you to slalom, freestyle and free ride.
But you don’t have to be an expert to have fun; the pond is between one metre and one and a half metres deep throughout, so beginners can take to the water in complete safety. So everyone can enjoy discovering kitesurfing or windsurfing. Sports enthusiasts who come to Clapotis to discover naturism can rest assured that their favourite sport is practised wearing a wetsuit, of course.
A sport known all over the world
As many windsurfers and kitesurfers know, Leucate hosts the “Mondial du Vent” every year, at the end of April. This spectacular competition brings together the best windsurfers and kitesurfers in the world. Spills and thrills guaranteed!
